Mitsubishi’s ASX is a surprisingly good performer in the smaller SUV segment.
On The Road
The Aspire CVT comes with a 2.0 litre petrol engine that delivers 110kw at 6,000 rpm and delivers 197 Nm at 4,200 rpm at an efficiency of 7.9 l/100km with emissions of 155g/km.
It’s adequate in the hills and the ASX’s suspension impresses giving greater body control and ride comfort and is surprisingly composed, despite the SUV’s higher centre of gravity.
This suspension redesign has also contributed to an increased tow capacity of both engines. Petrol models get an increase of 250kg to 1300kg sufficient to tow a small camper trailer.
The Interior
The ASX Aspire has a dark and sensible interior with chrome on the switchgear and a leather steering wheel featuring mounted audio controls. The Aspire has a 6.1 inch colour touchscreen runs the audio system and displays the rear view camera.
Combined with the leather trim heated front seats the Aspire ASX makes for a pleasant driving experience,
